This titles grab from A Touch of Love dates from 1993. A Touch of Love was a strand within Good Morning with Anne and Nick, the BBC1 Daytime magazine show. It went out at 11.40 each morning, with a romantic story being completed over the course of the week. The strand proved pretty popular with the viewers.

Voice of the Listener and Viewer visit 1992

BBC Pebble Mill (1992)

Here are Robin Vanags recollections of visiting Pebble Mill in 1992, around the time that the 21st anniversary of the building was being celebrated:

‘Those of us visiting BBC Pebble Mill from ‘Voice of the Listener & Viewer’ in November 1992 were guided by a gentleman who had worked for the BBC in Birmingham from before the centre was built & who recalled masses of cabling, visible in large apertures in the floors, before the studios opened in 1971.

In addition to the network & local radio facilities, we visited a very smart BBC Midlands Today set, in television studio B, and, after a live broadcast of Pebble Mill (no longer ‘at One’) from television studio A (where the new Sony cameras were in action), we toured studio A’s 3 control rooms (production, lighting & sound) which appeared to me, as sophisticated & impressive as those I’d seen at BBC Television Centre in London.  Good Morning with Anne and Nick occupied the foyer – previously home to Pebble Mill At One.’

This is a photo of me, Vanessa Jackson, taken for the Pebble Mill Press Office, circa 1992. It was taken when I was a producer on Good Morning with Anne and Nick. I worked with Alex Fraser at the time on the VT inserts, and we commissioned Independent production companies to make the pre-recorded strands which went out on the magazine show.

Production co-ordinator, Gail Herbert gave me the photo, which she found in the basement of Pebble Mill, when the building was cleared prior to being demolished in 2004/5.

The following comments were left on the Pebble Mill Facebook page:

Alexandra Fraser: ‘Wow feels like yesterday and this gorgeous photo brings it all back!’

Jane Mclean: ‘Don’t look any different! Not sure what to say about it being found in the basement!’

Ruth Kiosses: ‘I’ll have you know all the very best people were in the basement at Pebble Mill!!!’

Steve Johnson: ‘I worked on Good Morning with Anne and Nick at the last series, looking after the ‘hotliner’ students.’
