Smart was a children’s art show which was hosted by Pebble Mill, and recorded in Studio A.  The producer was Chris Tandy and the director Jason Garbett.  The series was presented by Mark Speight, amongst others like Jay Burridge and Zoe Ball.  The series went out between 1994-9, although I don’t know which series were recorded at Pebble Mill – please add a comment if you can add more information.

Basil Brush – Lynda Kettle’s photos

Basil Brush was a weekly children’s entertainment show.  The star of the show was a fox puppet (Basil Brush) and each week he would be joined by special guests.  There were various sketches, and music included in the show.  The 1980 series of Basil Brush was recorded at Pebble Mill in Studio A.  Paul Ciani was the producer, Lynda Kettle the designer, John Abbott the lighting director and David Weir was in charge of sound.  Billy Boyle was the presenter.

‘The Back Page’ – Tara Prem

‘THE BACK PAGE’, a Second City Firsts, went out on BBC TV 1978. It was written by Andrew Nickolds and Stan Hey, directed by Derek Lister.

It was a comedy about sports journalists, set in the Press Box when Charlton Athletic are playing Notts County. A half hour studio piece, recorded in Studio A.

It starred Graham Stark as Bert Reynolds, Henry Moxton as Percy, Howard Southern as Molotov, John Salthouse as Binoculars and Roger Avon as Sergeant.

‘The Back Page’ was produced at Pebble Mill by Tara Prem, Peter Ansorge was the script editor and Lynda Kettle the production designer.

‘Date with Fate’ – Lynda Kettle’s photos

‘Date with Fate’ was a game show, transmitted in 1998, where a top astrologer was put on the spot to see if they could predict the behaviour of two contestants. It was presented by Esther McVey, with astrologer Jonathan Cainer.  There were 28 episodes for BBC 1 Daytime, produced at Pebble Mill by Steve Weddle and Katie Wright; it was directed by Merrick Simmonds.
