Thanks to Ian Collins for sharing this titles grab.

Daily Live was a BBC 1 Daytime show, which went out in autumn 1998, at 10.30am. It was presented by Paul Ross, and included chat, celebrity guests, consumer advice and topical features.

The following comments were left on the Pebble Mill Facebook Page:

Andi Campbell-White: ‘1998 is about right. It was around the same time as The Really Useful Show… possibly between series. A John Daly was one of the reporters… he regularly treated me to large bottles of Jameson whiskey in return for showreels. The programme was rubbish.’

Dave Bushell: ‘I wonder if it’s one of the programmes we did in Studio 1. I had a lighting grid put in there in the late 90s for something which was obviously not memorable!’

Gary Jordan: ‘Tx Date:24/08/1998 Had some good guests on as well: Ben Elton Brian May etc. The annotation says Celebrity chat, guests and topical features, presented by Paul Ross. Plus more entertainment news from Francine Lewis Image courtesy of the BBC Photo Library.’

Martin took this photo in autumn 2003. It shows one of the outside broadcast rigger driver’s lockers. The driver must have had a penchant for apples, judging from the stickers. The outside broadcast department had been closed by this date.

Opening of the BBC Club – commemorative beer

Beer from opening of the BBC Club GKPhoto by Gerry King, no reproduction without permission.

This Mitchells and Butlers ale was produced to celebrate the opening of the new BBC Club at Pebble Mill in 1982. Amazing that a local brewery would produce a special label for this event, but then I suppose they knew how many pints would be drunk there over the years!

Thanks to Gerry King for resisting drinking the beer, and for sharing the photo.

The following comments were left on the Pebble Mill Facebook page:

Richard Stevenson: ‘That is an amazing picture! I have never seen so many cameramen in ties! Brilliant.’

Lynn Cullimore: ‘They all look so young and thats because they were – then. hah.’

Bob Bishop: ‘There are no women in the photograph, would that be the same today.’

Keith Brook (Scouse): ‘We were told to dress up by management. Bhaskar Solanki, far right (physically, not politically) went on to be a very, very successful news cameraman and is now a senior producer. Good for him!! I should also mention that I’m the only one wearing a waistcoat. Even then, standards were sloppy!!’
