The Nightwatchman was a six part series of stories by W. W. Jacobs, adapted by Donal Giltinan, and produced by Peter Dews at the BBC Gosta Green studios. It starred Wally Patch as Bill, the Nightwatchman,  and Marjorie Rhodes as Mrs Gibbs. The series was transmitted in January and February 1959.

This comedy was transmitted on BBC television on 25th March 1962, at 20.35. It was produced at BBC Birmingham’s Gosta Green studio.

It featured a very young looking Richard Briers, shown in the photo above with Polly Adams.

This was Derek Jacobi’s first television production, She Stoops to Conquer TX, 26th Nov 1961, starring alongside Daphne Slater.

It was recorded at BBC Birmingham’s Gosta Green studio.

Thanks to Joyce Hawkins for sharing this photo. This was the first production that Joyce worked on in the Costume department.

Yesterday’s Enemy starred Gordon Jackson and Alex Scott. It was written by Peter R Newman, and produced by Chloe Gibson. The designer was John Cooper. The drama was transmitted on 14th October, 1958, and was produced at Gosta Green, presumably in the studio. It was set during the Burma campaign of WWII.

Interestingly the television play spurred a Hammer Films production of Yesterday’s Enemy, in 1959, with Gordon Jackson playing the same role.
