James Alexander-Sinclair RTS Award

This is the Royal Television Society nomination certificate awarded to James Alexander-Sinclair, for Best New Talent, for the Midland Centre in 2004. James was nominated for his presenting of the third series of Small Town Gardens on BBC2.

I can’t remember who actually won the Award for Best New Talent that year, but as series producer of Small Town Gardens it was great to be able to attend the Awards dinner, with James, and of course to work with him on the series.

CMCR9 on display at Astle Park, 8/9th Aug

This is just to let you know that CMCR9, Pebble Mill’s original CM1 outside broadcast truck, which later became Manchester’s North 3, will be on show at the Astle Park Steam Rally, near Chelford, Cheshire next weekend 8/9th August 2015.

This photo is of a Radio WM outside broadcast to the Hall Green Stadium, for a greyhound race named after presenter Pat de Whalley – seen here on the far left.

Gardener of the Year 2007

The photos are from the 2007 Gardener of the Year show, which was transmitted on BBC2, 14th December. It was recorded at the Royal Horticultural Society’s Wisley garden. The programme began in 1999, and was a competition to find the best amateur gardener in the country.

The top photo shows producer Andy Vernon briefing the contestants, with series producer, Rosemary Edwards in black T-shirt, in the centre. It looks like Gavin Barclay on camera.

The second photo shows the jib camera recording one of the challenges facing the contestants.

The final photo shows an identification round set in the herbaceous border. Floor manager Marco Di Giorgio, far left, presenter Joe Swift (next but one), Len Kerswill (stripey top), next to producer Andy Vernon, Ben Harris, next to Andy.
