This photo shows Gary Williams, from Graphics, hard at work. Gary was excellent at Astons. The photo is from the 1993. Gary thinks that it was taken in the old News graphics room, when it was round in the main Graphics area. The computer looks like an Abekas A72, or something similar.
The photo was first shared on the Pebble Mill engineers’ Facebook group.

This photo shows the News VT library at Pebble Mill in the late 1990s. The VT library would have catalogued and housed tapes of stock shots and continuing news stories for Midlands Today.
Thanks to Steve Johnson for sharing it. Steve moved from working on the hotline of Good Morning with Anne and Nick to the News VT library, after the series ended in 1996.

These photos were taken in a shoot for Feasts for a Fiver, a cookery series starring Sophie Grigson.
The series was transmitted in 1999 on BBC2. This episode may be the one shot in Kent. Here is the entry from the Radio Times:
“Sophie Grigson prepares battered plaice and herb sandwich with griddled potato, tomato and red-onion salad, plus a vegetarian supper that includes beetroot curry and cucumber sambal, and a cut-price picnic for five. Directors Micci Billinger. Lynda Maher ; Producer Sara Kozak.”
During one episode the crew stayed in the coastal Devon village of Appledore. The location inspired producer Sue Watson, who is now a novelist. Appledore is the setting for Sue’s latest novel, Ella’s Ice Cream Summer.

This is the front page of a free leaflet available to listeners, to accompany ‘Relax with Roundabout’ – yoga on the radio, an innovation by BBC Birmingham producer/presenter, Pete Simpkin, and featuring yoga teacher Pat Mellor. It was part of Pete’s ‘Roundabout’ show. The leaflet includes line drawings of the different yoga postures that Pat was going to explain to listeners on her live programmes with Pete. As far as Pete is aware, Radio Birmingham was the first, and only station to do proper yoga lessons on the radio!

David Shute: ‘ “Roundabout” was originally on the Light Prog. produced by Peter Duncan. In the 60’s whilst I was a reporter based in Bristol I did lot of on-air work for him including making the first ever live broadcast flying through the Sound Barrier. Those were the days when broadcasting really was fun, lucky we who were at it then.’

The photo shows the hotline team from the 1990’s daytime magazine programme, Good Morning with Anne and Nick. The CSV volunteers who manned the phone lines were an integral part of the programme, and regularly appeared on screen, as well as putting through the calls from viewers. The photo was taken at the end of the last show in 1996. Working on the hotline was the start of quite a number of successful careers in the BBC.

I was a lowly runner – occasionally herding the talent (Robson & Jerome!) and filtering out the inappropriate mail before it reached A&N! I remember the wrap party when the show finished. Anne made a very barbed speech and Ainsley Harriott dropped his trousers!’
