These photos are of a tug of war held at the BBC Pebble Mill Club. This was probably part of a summer party held over at the Club, or part of Regional Clubs’ Day

The second girl from front is Helen Sandon, who worked in Finance and the lady in the turquoise top towards the back is probably Wendy Mawson. Second from the back, in the sunglasses, is probably David Bellinger. The fourth woman from the left with the navy top and red shirt is Janet Bellinger (David’s ex).

Retirees Lunch – photo from Stephen Davies

BBC Pebble Mill would hold annual lunches for retired staff, like this one being hosted by David Waine, Head of Building (extreme left). The man on the right looking at David is Les Barlow, who used to work in Maintenance.

The photo dates from 1989, and was taken in Radio Studio 1.

1st BBC National Golf Competition – photo from Roger Mulliner

The photo is of the prize giving of the 1st BBC National Golf Competition, which was held at Kings Norton Golf Course in Birmingham. There seem to be a lot of trophies for the Pebble Mill contingent!

Pebble Mill Cleaners -photo from Stephen Davies

The photo shows the part time cleaning staff at BBC Pebble Mill. It was taken around 1990. Most of the cleaners worked an early morning shift, cleaning the offices before everyone else came in to work.

Pebble Mill had a very active BBC Club. The Club was not only the focus of socialising and drinking, but also of sporting activity. Each year there would be a Regional Clubs Day, where members of other BBC Clubs from around England would get together and compete in different sporting events.
